The Software Made in Europe label recognises software that is designed and developed in Europe. It highlights companies that keep innovation, research and development, and ownership under European jurisdiction, strengthening Europe’s capacity to lead in ethical, secure, and trustworthy technology.
Who is it for?
This label is awarded to companies that can demonstrate that their software is genuinely European in its ownership, operations, and development.
Main eligibility criteria
Location
The company must be a legal entity with headquarters located in Europe.
Ownership
Operations
The company must provide assurance that there is no major ownership control from outside Europe.
More than 50% of the company’s R&D activities and staff must be located in EU27 or EFTA countries.
The company must confirm that the key stages of software development were carried out in Europe.

Software Hosted in Europe
The Software Hosted in Europe label recognises software that is hosted fully in Europe. It promotes data sovereignty, GDPR compliance, and digital trust by ensuring that user data remains protected under European law and values.
Who is it for?
This label is designed for companies that host their software and data within Europe and use infrastructure that supports European digital sovereignty.
Main eligibility criteria
Location
Hosting
The company must host its software and data within the EU or EFTA.
The company must confirm that its software and data are hosted with European hosting providers that are not subject to non-European legal control.
Infrastructure
The company must be a legal entity with headquarters located in Europe.

Pricing
Each label costs 400 EUR, excluding VAT, and is valid for 12 months.
EDIH Vilnius members receive a 50 EUR discount.
